Obasanjo Library Seeks N3.5bn Compensation, Public Apology From EFCC Over Raid

The Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library (OOPL) is seeking N3.5 billion in compensation and a public apology from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) following a raid on the facility in May. The OOPL management, led by Vitalis Ortese, demanded the apology and compensation within seven days, alleging that the invasion by EFCC operatives was unlawful and a direct assault on the institution.

The raid, which resulted in the arrest of 93 suspected internet fraudsters, caused panic and chaos at the library. Ortese called for a thorough investigation into the incident and for restitution to be made to those affected, including the payment of at least N1 billion for damages and injuries suffered.

Failure to meet these demands would result in legal action being taken against the EFCC.
