Ganduje: Obi, Atiku Lack Northern Support to Defeat Tinubu

Dr. Umar Abdullahi Ganduje, the immediate past chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), expressed concerns regarding the ability of Peter Obi and Alhaji Atiku Abubakar to garner support in Northern Nigeria for the upcoming 2027 presidential election.

He asserted that neither candidate possesses the necessary grassroots structure or regional appeal to unseat the incumbent President Bola Tinubu. Ganduje made these remarks during a public event in Kano on Monday, where he assessed the strength of opposition parties ahead of the election.

He emphasized that the political landscape is evolving, with various parties calling for an independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to address issues related to party registration and the clear ideological structure required for broader national recognition. Ganduje's comments reflect ongoing realignments within opposition ranks as political actors begin consultations for the 2027 general elections.
