Ganduje: Obi, Atiku Can't Beat Tinubu in Northern Nigeria

Dr. Umar Abdullahi Ganduje, the immediate past chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), asserted that neither Peter Obi of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) nor Atiku Abubakar of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) possesses the necessary grassroots support to unseat President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the North during the 2027 presidential elections.

Ganduje made these remarks at a public event in Kano, where he assessed the strength of opposition parties ahead of the upcoming elections. He emphasized that historically, every presidential election in Nigeria has required significant regional appeal to succeed, and he expressed concerns regarding the growing number of political parties in the country.

Ganduje's comments come amid ongoing realignments within opposition ranks as political actors begin early consultations for the 2027 general elections.
