Peter Obi Condemns Maiduguri Bombings, Urges Action

Former presidential candidate Peter Obi condemned the suicide bombings that occurred in Maiduguri, Borno State, on Monday night, which resulted in 23 deaths and left over 100 others injured. The bombings took place almost simultaneously in the market and near the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital.

Obi described the incident as a reflection of the worsening insecurity across Nigeria and expressed outrage over the government's inadequate response to such atrocities. He emphasized that the attacks highlight a troubling reality of insecurity in the country, linking them to a broader pattern of violence affecting various regions, including Kwara, Nasarawa, Kogi, Plateau, Sokoto, and Benue states.

Obi called for urgent leadership action to safeguard lives and criticized the muted national response to the attacks. He expressed sympathy for the victims' families and urged that the nation cannot continue down a path of neglect regarding citizen safety.

The police confirmed that investigations are ongoing to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the incidents.
