Obi Critiques Tinubu's Airport Visit to Plateau Victims

Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party for the 2023 elections, criticized President Bola Tinubu for his handling of a condolence visit to victims of violence in Plateau State. Obi's comments, made via a post on Friday, highlighted Tinubu's decision to meet victims at the airport rather than visiting the affected communities directly.

He described this approach as lacking empathy and true leadership, asserting that genuine leadership requires physical presence during crises. Obi referenced a similar situation in Benue State in 2025, where Tinubu did not visit the scene of an attack.

He argued that such actions exacerbate the feelings of abandonment among Nigerians enduring repeated cycles of violence. The latest incident in Plateau State involved gunmen attacking residents in the Angwan Rukuba area of Jos North Local Government, resulting in the deaths of at least 27 people and leaving several others injured.

Obi called for urgent action to address the ongoing insecurity affecting innocent lives in Nigeria.
