Obi and Kwankwaso Attend NDC National Convention in Abuja

Peter Obi, the former governor of Anambra State, and Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, the former governor of Kano State, arrived in Abuja for the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) national convention amid growing expectations for the party's preparations for the 2027 general elections. The convention is set to ratify key decisions made by the party's national executive committee, including the issuance of a slate and deliberations on zoning arrangements.

The event is significant as it follows the recent formal joining of Obi and Kwankwaso to the NDC from the African Democratic Congress (ADC), marking a major realignment within the opposition bloc. The NDC, led by Seriake Dickson, the former governor of Bayelsa State, aims to strengthen its ranks in the National Assembly following the defection of no fewer than 17 members from the ADC.
