Peter Obi Raises Alarm on Nigeria's Displaced Citizens

On World Refugee Day, Peter Obi, a former presidential candidate of the Nigerian Democratic Congress, expressed deep concern regarding the increasing number of internally displaced persons (IDPs) in Nigeria, which he attributed to rising insecurity, including terrorism and banditry. Obi noted that millions of Nigerians have been forced to become refugees within their own country due to violent attacks, leaving them in IDP camps that are poorly funded and unable to meet the needs of thousands of displaced families.

He described the dire conditions in these camps, where families struggle daily for food, healthcare, and education, highlighting the loss of dignity and survival challenges faced by these individuals. Obi emphasized the urgent need for a greater commitment to ensure the safety and dignity of Nigerian citizens, stressing that they deserve the right to live peacefully in their own country.
