Keyamo Condemns Disruption of Obi's Convoy in Benue

On September 9, 2023, Festus Keyamo, SAN, the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, condemned the disruption faced by Peter Obi, the Presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), during his visit to Benue State. Obi's convoy was blocked by youths on the Gboko-Makurdi Expressway while he was en route to Yelwata in Guma Local Government Area to commiserate with victims of a deadly attack that occurred in June 2025.

The NDC alleged that the youths were mobilized to prevent Obi from reaching the community, while the All Progressives Congress (APC) denied any involvement. The Benue State Police Command confirmed the blockade but had not determined the reasons behind it.

Keyamo stated that the incident should be condemned regardless of the political affiliations involved and emphasized that political grievances should be expressed through democratic means rather than violence. He rejected claims that Obi's visit was politically motivated and called for freedom of movement for all political candidates.
