Keyamo Condemns Attack on Peter Obi in Benue State

Festus Keyamo, the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, condemned the blockade of Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), by suspected thugs during his visit to Benue State. The incident occurred on Tuesday, where Obi's convoy was attacked by protesters, preventing him from reaching his event.

Keyamo described the blockade as unacceptable in a democratic society, asserting that politicians should be free to conduct their activities without intimidation or violence. He noted that whether the protest stemmed from internal disagreements within the NDC or was allegedly sponsored by the All Progressives Congress (APC) or another opposition party, it should be condemned.

Keyamo also rejected claims that Obi's visit to Yelwata, a site of previous violence, was politically motivated. He criticized the media for applying double standards in reporting incidents involving different political parties, highlighting the need for fair treatment in political confrontations.
