Keyamo Condemns Blockade of Peter Obi's Convoy in Benue

Festus Keyamo, the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, condemned the blockade of Peter Obi's convoy by youths in Benue, stating that such actions are unacceptable in a democratic society. Obi, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate, was in Benue on Tuesday as part of his campaign activities for the 2027 presidential election and was scheduled to visit Yelewata to sympathize with victims of past attacks.

His convoy was reportedly blocked on the Makurdi-Gboko federal highway by individuals shouting, “Peter Obi go back,” causing traffic congestion. Obi expressed concern over the incident, emphasizing that political candidates should be able to campaign freely without intimidation.

He appealed to security agencies to ensure political actors can move without obstruction. Keyamo, reacting on his official X handle, stated that the reasons behind the protest should not justify the blockade and criticized the partisan reporting of political confrontations.
