Obono-Obla Seeks APC National Secretary Role for 2026

Obono-Obla, a former chairman of the Special Presidential Investigative Panel for the Recovery of Public Property, has announced his candidacy for the position of National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in anticipation of the party's convention set for March 2026. Speaking to journalists in Calabar, Cross River State, he emphasized his 35 years of legal practice across Nigeria's judicial system, which he believes will help the party operate within legal frameworks and avoid crises.

Obono-Obla's background includes serving as a special assistant to the Attorney General of the Federation, where he highlighted the importance of balancing political policies. His experience as an anti-corruption advocate positions him to promote transparency and accountability within the party.

He also noted his previous role as the secretary of the defunct Congress for Progressive Change and his involvement in the merger committee that led to the formation of the APC, which he believes uniquely qualifies him to safeguard the party's legacy and strengthen its secretariat.
