Delta Governor Oborevwori Unveils Electricity Improvement Plan

Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State has detailed ongoing efforts to tackle electricity challenges in the state, focusing on a mix of policy reforms and infrastructure upgrades aimed at improving power supply and boosting economic activity. He announced the rehabilitation of the 31-kilometer Ohoror-Bomadi road and explained that the state government is adopting a coordinated approach to address power shortages, expand transmission capacity, and install new equipment to restore critical facilities in underserved areas.

Recent policy developments include the approval of the Delta State Electricity Law and the establishment of an Electricity Policy Executive Council to strengthen the legal framework for power sector reforms. The governor disclosed that the state is engaging an electricity consulting firm to conduct a statewide assessment of power infrastructure, which will inform further interventions.

Ongoing projects include extending a 33kV overhead line in Warri South West and upgrading substations in Ndokwa East and West. The governor emphasized that these achievements are supported by the economic reform vision of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
