Delta State Launches Initiative for Improved Power Supply

On Wednesday, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State unveiled an ambitious initiative to boost the state's industrialization by addressing the chronic power supply issues. The initiative, presented by Mr.

Sunni Ekedayen, outlines a strategic roadmap to ensure stable electricity supply, which is crucial for industrial growth. The governor has engaged Power Acumen Consult Ltd to conduct a comprehensive diagnostic assessment of Delta's electricity ecosystem, with results expected by late 2025.

The interim report will recommend significant reforms to the state's electricity laws and policies. The initiative aims to achieve 24-hour electricity supply in Asaba and Warri within the next twelve months, with plans to develop an independent state electricity grid.

Mr. Michael Anoka emphasized the importance of optimizing power delivery from multiple sources.

The state government, represented by Mr. Fide Tilij, has committed to financially supporting the initiative, while Erhabor Okogun from the Nigeria Infrastructure Bank noted Delta's financial capacity to drive large-scale infrastructure development.
