Ochetoha K’Idoma Raises Alarm Over Benue South Killings

Ochetoha K’Idoma, the apex socio-cultural organization of the Idoma Nation, has expressed serious security concerns regarding killings in the Benue South Senatorial District. They allege the presence of armed mercenaries and warn of reports indicating that more fighters are gathering along border communities for potential attacks.

The organization claims to have provided the Nigeria Police Force with specific intelligence about an impending attack on Otukpo Nobi community 48 hours prior to the assault, demanding an explanation for the police's failure to act. In a rejoinder dated July 31, 2026, Ochetoha criticized the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) for their account of the violence, particularly their characterization of the attackers as unknown assailants.

They allege that over 50 heavily armed militia fighters have conducted coordinated raids, resulting in civilian casualties. Ochetoha links the violence to threats made by Fulani leaders following the killing of MACBAN Benue State Chairman Ardo Risku Muhammad and his associate on June 26, 2026, and calls for an investigation into these threats and their connection to the attacks.
