Ochetoha Demands Action After Otukpo Massacre

On July 12, 2026, Ochetoha K'Idoma Forum Worldwide, led by President General Professor Yakubu Aboki Ochefu and Secretary General Chief Dr. Paul Edeh, issued a press statement demanding immediate action from the federal government to address the ongoing violence in Benue South.

This call followed a coordinated attack in Otukpo, where no fewer than 20 individuals were killed, including a driver named Ujah Adoji and others sustaining various injuries. The organization criticized security agencies for allegedly ignoring credible intelligence about the planned attack, which had been communicated to relevant authorities.

They expressed profound grief and outrage over the killings, urging the government to deploy security forces to prevent further violence and to ensure justice for the victims. The statement emphasized that the victims should not be collectively blamed for the actions of the assailants and called for the immediate release of innocent residents detained in connection with the violence.
