Ochetoha K’Idoma Raises Alarm Over Benue South Killings

Ochetoha K’Idoma, the apex socio-cultural organization of the Idoma Nation, expressed serious security concerns regarding killings in the Benue South Senatorial District. They alleged the presence of armed mercenaries and warned of more fighters gathering near border communities for potential attacks.

The organization claimed to have provided the Nigeria Police Force with specific intelligence about an impending attack on Otukpo Nobi community 48 hours before it occurred, criticizing the police for not acting on this warning. In a rejoinder dated July 31, 2026, signed by President General Prof.

Yakubu A. Ochefu and Secretary General Chief Paul Edeh, Ochetoha disputed MACBAN's characterization of the attackers as unknown assailants, alleging that over 50 heavily armed militia had conducted coordinated raids.

They called for an investigation into the violence, linking it to threats made by Fulani leaders following the killing of MACBAN Benue state Chairman Ardo Risku Muhammad and his associate on June 26, 2026.
