Ochetoha Demands Action After Otukpo Massacre

On July 12, 2026, Austin Agbo Emmanuel Ochetoha, representing the Idoma Forum Worldwide, demanded immediate action from the federal government following a massacre in Otukpo, Benue State, where no fewer than 20 people were killed in a coordinated attack in the Akpachi Ugboju area. The statement, co-signed by Professor Yakubu Aboki Ochefu and Chief Dr. Paul Edeh, criticized security agencies for ignoring credible intelligence about the planned attack.

Ochetoha expressed profound grief and outrage over the killings, which he described as part of a cycle of violence plaguing the region for decades. He emphasized that every victim's blood is on the hands of those who failed to act on prior warnings.

The forum also urged the government to deploy security forces to confront armed groups in the area and to ensure justice for the victims, highlighting the need for stronger security measures to protect the community.
