Supreme Court Orders Federal Government to Comply with Fund Allocation

The Supreme Court of Nigeria has issued a stern warning to the Federal Government regarding compliance with its judgment in the case G. Feder v.

The judgment mandates that funds allocated to local government councils must be paid directly to them, despite previous resistance from state governments. Femi Falana highlighted the importance of this ruling, stating that failure to comply would be a disregard for the rule of law.

The court's decision was reinforced by a recent case involving Osun State, where the Federal Government was found to have withheld funds due to local governments. The Supreme Court's ruling emphasizes that the Federal Government must ensure strict compliance with its orders and that any failure to do so will be viewed as contempt of court.
