NDC Zones 2027 Presidential Ticket to Southern Nigeria

The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has officially zoned its 2027 presidential ticket to the southern part of Nigeria, establishing a four-year term structure. This decision was reached during a national convention held on Saturday, where a motion was moved by Afam Victor Ogen, representing the Ogbaru constituency in the House of Representatives.

The delegates at the convention unanimously adopted the proposal, which stipulates that the presidency will remain in the south for a term of four years, automatically rotating to the north upon completion. This zoning formula opens the contest for southern aspirants ahead of the party primaries.

Former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi is expected to be among those seeking the party's nomination, alongside former Kano State Governor Rabiu Kwankwaso, who is also positioned as a potential frontrunner for the NDC's presidential ticket in 2027.
