Sunshine Development Tour Qualifying School Begins in Nigeria

The Sunshine Development Tour Qualifying School is taking place at Lakowe Lake Golf Club, scheduled from April 13 to April 15, 2026. This landmark event is organized by the Sunshine Development Tour and features a strong field of professional golfers from West and Central Africa, including participants from Ghana, Cameroon, Côte d'Ivoire, Gabon, and the host nation, Nigeria.

The tournament consists of a 54-hole competition, with players vying for a pathway to qualify for the main Sunshine Tour. Femi Olagbenro, the golf manager at Lakowe, emphasized the significance of this event for the development of professional golf in West Africa, highlighting its potential to open global opportunities for players.

Olagbenro also affirmed the long-term vision of establishing the Sunshine Development Tour Qualifying School as a permanent fixture in the club's calendar, alongside ongoing initiatives aimed at elevating the standards and visibility of professional golf in the region.
