Two Dead in Ogun Road Crash on Sagamu-Benin Expressway

On June 9, 2026, a fatal road accident occurred along the Ogber J4 Corridor of the Sagamu-Benin Expressway, resulting in the deaths of two individuals. The crash involved a white Mack truck with registration number ABC660XC and an orange Peugeot J5, which had an unknown registration number.

According to Afolabi Odunsi, the spokesperson for the Ogun State sector command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), preliminary investigations indicated that the probable cause of the crash was a violation of speed regulations. The impact of the collision caused the Peugeot J5 to catch fire, leading to the complete burning of its front section.

FRSC rescue personnel arrived at the scene within two minutes and began traffic management to divert vehicles and facilitate movement. The deceased victims were evacuated, and the Ogun State sector command emphasized the need for motorists to adhere to traffic regulations, particularly during periods of poor visibility and wet road surfaces, which are major contributing factors to fatal crashes.
