10 Dead, 6 Injured in Ogun State Auto Crash

On Sunday night, at approximately 8:05 PM, a tragic road accident occurred on Sapade Bridge along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway in Ogun State, resulting in the deaths of at least 10 individuals and injuries to six others. The accident involved a Dangote Sinotruk truck and a Toyota Hiace commercial bus, with a total of 18 people involved, including 15 adult males, two adult females, and one male child.

According to Afolabi Odunsi, the public education officer of the Ogun Sector Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), 10 people, comprising nine adult males and one male child, lost their lives in the incident. Six others sustained injuries, including four adult males and two adult females, while two adult males escaped unhurt.

The FRSC attributed the crash to speed violation and dangerous driving, stating that the truck driver allegedly reversed on the highway while attempting to navigate a limited space at high speed. The FRSC rescue team evacuated the injured victims to a hospital for treatment, and the bodies of the deceased were deposited at a mortuary in Ipaja.

Ogun State Sector Commander Oludare Ogunjobi expressed condolences to the families of the deceased and urged motorists, especially commercial drivers, to adhere to traffic regulations.
