Debate Over Solomon Adeola's Ancestry Heats Up in Ogun

Folake Marcus-Bello, a former Nigerian Ambassador to Zambia and Malawi and former Commissioner for Women Affairs in Ogun State, has reignited the debate over the ancestry of Solomon Adeola, the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate for Ogun State in 2027. During a live television program, Marcus-Bello claimed that Adeola, also known as Yayi, is not from Yewa and has documentary evidence to support her assertion.

She expressed her disappointment over what she described as blatant lies regarding his origin. In response, Adeola threatened legal action against Marcus-Bello and Hon. Abayomi Hunye for alleged libelous statements made about him on national television.

Marcus-Bello emphasized the importance of indigene status in Ogun State politics, arguing that the Yewa people deserve a governor who is a true son or daughter of the soil. She challenged Adeola to a public debate, offering to present documents that contradict his claims about his heritage.
