Ogun APC Members Protest Candidate Imposition Ahead of 2027

On Wednesday, members of the Ogun State chapter of the APC protested at the governor's office in Abeokuta, rejecting the alleged imposition of candidates for the House of Assembly elections ahead of the 2027 elections. The protesters insisted that candidates for the House of Representatives should emerge through credible primaries, reflecting the will of the party members.

They expressed dissatisfaction with the growing pattern of marginalization in the Ijebu East area, which includes Ijebu North, Ijebu East, and Ogun Waterside. Adewale Adeboy, known as Jarrow, emphasized that the party should not impose candidates, warning that such actions could lead to a loss of electoral support.

He highlighted that he has been a representative for 12 years and indicated a potential extension to 16 years, which the protesters found unacceptable. Oluwatoyin Taiwo, the governor's chief of staff, urged calm and stressed that the party operates within established guidelines, assuring that concerns would be communicated to the governor.
