Ogun Constituents Demand Zoning for 2027 Reps Seat

Constituents in Ogun State are expressing concerns over the perceived lopsided representation in the House of Representatives, specifically between the Ifo and Ewekoro local governments. A statement from the group, led by Chairman Abdul Oladosu and Secretary Kehinde Egbeyemi of the IPIF, highlights the need for zoning the ticket ahead of the 2027 elections.

They reference voting statistics from recent elections to support their argument, noting that Ifo delivered 20,653 votes in the last gubernatorial election, while Ewekoro recorded 20,415 accredited voters with 8,192 votes for the forum in the 2023 presidential election. The group emphasizes that since the creation of the constituency in 1999, Ewekoro has had a disproportionate representation, with politicians from Ewekoro holding the seat for nearly 20 years compared to Ifo's 12 years.

They insist that equitable representation is crucial for genuine democratic partnership and urge the APC to allow fair representation and rotation of the seat by 2027.
