Yewa North Stakeholders Demand Fair Representation for 2027

Stakeholders from Yewa North have issued an open letter calling for equitable political representation in the Ogun State House of Assembly ahead of the 2027 elections. They highlight a long-standing imbalance favoring the Iju Zone, despite arrangements suggesting a rotation with the Ayetoro Zone.

The constituency comprises seven wards across two zones, and the stakeholders note that since the advent of democracy in 1999, the Iju Zone has held representation for approximately 20 years, while the Ayetoro Zone has only had eight years of representation. The letter emphasizes the need for urgent correction of this imbalance, stating that democracy thrives when all segments of society feel fairly represented.

The stakeholders also point out that current political offices are concentrated in the Iju Zone, which undermines grassroots governance. They have sent copies of the letter to former Ogun State Governor Olusegun Osoba and Senator Olamilekan Adeola, appealing for support to ensure inclusive representation in the upcoming elections.
