Ogun govt denies targeting Sen Gbenga Daniel over property notices

The Ogun State Government has refuted claims made by Senator Gbenga Daniel that recent property notices served to him were politically motivated. In a statement signed by the Special Adviser on Information Strategy, Kayode Akinmade, the government described the senator's allegations as a "barefaced lie" and part of a routine town planning exercise.

The government emphasized that the notices were not targeted at Senator Daniel specifically but were part of a larger development audit in the Sagamu Government Reserved Area. The statement clarified that the audit is in line with the Ogun State Town Planning Law and involves auditing existing properties for compliance with statutory requirements.

The government urged Senator Daniel to verify the facts before making political accusations, emphasizing that the law applies to everyone without exception. Governor Abiodun's office emphasized the importance of following regulations and stated that the notices were not a personal attack but a routine process.
