Ogun Physical Planning Laws Not Targeted at Daniel – Govt

The Ogun State Government clarified that its physical planning laws are not targeted at former Governor Gbenga Daniel, but are aimed at ensuring orderly urban development and regulating land use in the public interest. This statement comes after Daniel accused Governor Dapo Abiodun of political persecution following a demolition notice served on his properties, including his private residence and the Asoludero Court Conference Hotel Limited in Sagamu.

The Commissioner of Physical Planning and Urban Development, Tunji Odunlami, explained that the ongoing enforcement in Sagamu is a routine exercise to verify the permit status of buildings, including houses, schools, hospitals, and commercial facilities. Odunlami emphasized that property owners are served notices to approach the Ogun State Planning and Development Permit Authority to provide relevant documents in line with existing building laws.

He added that the enforcement applies to all developments regardless of ownership, as backed by Section 73 of the State Physical Planning Law. Daniel is yet to respond to the notice and present the required documents.
