Ogun Govt Seals Gbenga Daniel’s Mansion, Hotel for Demolition amidst 2027 Political Battle

The Ogun State Government, led by Governor Dapo Abiodun, has sealed former Governor Gbenga Daniel's mansion and luxury hotel in Sagamu for demolition amid a reported political rift ahead of the 2027 Ogun East Senatorial race. Officials from the Sagamu Zonal Planning Office arrived in vehicles and sealed the properties without prior notice, following a Notice of Contravention issued last Friday.

The government alleges that Daniel's mansion and hotel were built without proper permits, in violation of the state's Urban and Regional Planning Law. The move has heightened tensions as Abiodun is believed to be eyeing the senatorial seat, while Daniel is likely to contest as well.

The appearance of a large campaign poster for Abiodun directly opposite Daniel's residence has further fueled political tensions in the area. Residents view the sealing and demolition as a deliberate political provocation, setting the stage for a potential clash in the 2027 elections.
