Ogun State Warns Against Roadside Trading After Accident

The Ogun State Government has issued a warning to residents against roadside trading after a recent fatal accident in the Tollgate area of Ota, Ado Odo Ota Local Government Area, which resulted in several deaths and property destruction. Deputy Governor Noimot Salako-Oyedun, representing Governor Dapo Abiodun, highlighted that roadside trading poses significant risks and is a major contributor to accidents.

She noted that the state government is providing market stalls designed for trading to ensure safer commercial activities and to discourage residents from trading along busy highways. Salako-Oyedun described the incident as particularly painful and extended condolences to the families affected by the tragedy, assuring that survivors would receive adequate care.

The Deputy Governor commended the swift response of local leadership and the Federal Road Safety Corps in managing the situation and reiterated the government's commitment to enforcing regulations that promote public safety. She urged residents to patronize approved market trade centers across the state.
