PDP Chieftain Urges Ban on Street Trading After Accident

Olufemi Oguntoyinbo, a chieftain of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo State, has called on Governor Seyi Makinde to implement a ban on street trading to prevent further accidents and loss of life. This appeal follows a tragic incident on Tuesday, March 24, 2026, when a truck lost control along Beer Gate Road in Ibadan, resulting in the deaths of two individuals and injuries to others.

Oguntoyinbo expressed his sorrow over the loss of life and highlighted the displacement of traders' products on the roadside. He noted that despite efforts by the state and local government to curb street trading, the accident revealed ongoing disobedience to regulations.

Oguntoyinbo emphasized the necessity of stricter measures to ensure public safety and prevent similar tragedies in the future.
