Ogun Police Confirm Cult Clash Not Linked to Rally

On Sunday, a violent cult clash occurred in Abeokuta, Ogun State, leading to one fatality. The Ogun State Police Command confirmed that the incident, which took place around 2:45 PM along Wasimi Ak Road near Centenary Hall, was not related to a political gathering or the Yayi Progress Movement's inauguration program at Ak Palace.

Police spokesperson Oluseyi Babaseyi stated that preliminary investigations revealed that rival cult groups engaged in a gun duel, causing panic among residents. Upon police arrival, they found a victim identified as Simpli Stone, who had suffered critical gunshot injuries and was later confirmed dead at a state hospital.

The police have launched an intensified manhunt for the perpetrators and urged the public to remain calm while encouraging them to provide information to assist in the ongoing investigation.
