Ogun PDP's Showunmi Seeks Coalition Against APC for 2027

On Friday, Segun Showunmi, a chieftain of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) in Ogun State, visited the Inter-Party Advisory Committee (IPAC) secretariat in Abeokuta to seek support for a coalition aimed at challenging the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the upcoming 2027 governorship election. Showunmi emphasized the need for a united front among various political parties, including the Labour Party, Action Alliance, and New Nigeria Peoples Party, to contest against the APC's consensus candidate, Solomon Adeola.

He expressed his determination to run for the governorship seat and highlighted the importance of IPAC in protecting multi-party democracy. Showunmi criticized the APC's governance, stating that the people of Ogun State deserve better alternatives.

He urged political party chairmen to form a small committee to facilitate collaboration and dialogue among parties, warning of potential consequences if they fail to unite. Abayomi Sanyaolu, the chairman of IPAC Ogun State Council, welcomed Showunmi's initiative and encouraged caution among political leaders.
