Ogun Shuts Ijebu Mushin Market Over Sanitation Issues

The Ogun State Waste Management Agency, under the direction of Hon. Farook Akintunde, has shut down Ijebu Mushin Market in the Ijebu East Local Government Area due to persistent poor sanitation practices.

This decision was made public on Tuesday and follows a series of warnings issued to market leaders who failed to comply with proper waste disposal protocols. Despite the agency's efforts to provide roll-off bins for easier waste evacuation, traders continued to dump waste indiscriminately, jeopardizing public health.

Akintunde emphasized that the state government, led by Governor Ogwama, will not tolerate actions that threaten public health and safety. The market will remain closed until adequate sanitation measures are implemented.

This closure is part of broader enforcement actions in Ogun State, which previously included the temporary shutdown of Kuto Market in Abeokuta in 2022 due to similar unhygienic conditions.
