Ogun Waste Operators Praise Abiodun for New OGWAMA MD

Ogun State waste management vendors have expressed their appreciation for Governor Dapo Abiodun's appointment of Alhaji Farouk Akintund as the new Managing Director of the Ogun State Waste Management Agency (OGWAMA) on February 18, 2026. Pastor Segun Adetula, a member of the waste management association, noted that Akintund's leadership has already shown promise in addressing the challenges faced by waste vendors in the state.

The association highlighted Akintund's immediate actions, including reversing a registration fee from N25,000 to N5,000 and addressing issues related to unprofessional registrations. The vendors are optimistic that Akintund's appointment will strengthen their relationship with the state government and improve waste management efforts.

They have called for the establishment of a task force to monitor unregistered waste vendors and requested quarterly meetings with the agency to enhance engagement and collaboration on waste management strategies.
