Ohanaeze Ndigbo Backs Southeast Ex-Governors Forum

Ohanaeze Ndigbo, the apex Igbo socio-cultural organization, has expressed its support for the newly inaugurated forum of Southeast former governors, which is coordinated by David Umahi, the former governor of Ebonyi State. This non-partisan body aims to strengthen collaboration among past governors in the Southeast and engage with the federal government to address long-standing infrastructural and economic challenges in the region.

Ohanaeze highlighted the importance of sustained cooperation with the federal government to accelerate development across Southeast Nigeria. The organization urged the forum to expand its scope to include former governors of Igbo extraction from Delta and Rivers states, particularly the Anioma and Ikwerr communities, to better reflect the broader Igbo identity.

Additionally, Ohanaeze proposed a name change for the forum to the "Igbo Former Governors Forum" to promote inclusivity. The organization reaffirmed its commitment to fostering collaboration among Southeast political leaders to attract federal presence and development projects to the region.
