Southeast Ex-Governors Form Forum to Support Tinubu

On April 7, 2026, six former governors from Southeast Nigeria inaugurated a forum aimed at supporting the current governor, David Umahi, and enhancing governance across the region. The meeting took place at the Presidential Lodge in Enugu.

The forum, which adopts a nonpartisan approach, seeks to leverage the experiences of past leaders to advance development policies. Attendees included Martin Elechi, Sullivan Chime, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, Okezie Ikpeazu, and Chris Ngige.

The forum commended the achievements of the incumbent governor, particularly in infrastructure and citizen empowerment, and praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for appointing Southeast indigenes to key positions. The forum also endorsed Tinubu's re-election, signaling unity among past and current leadership in the region.

Umahi expressed confidence that 90 percent of former governors would participate in future meetings, emphasizing the forum's role as a support platform for current governance.
