Ohanaeze Ndigbo Canada Urges Increased Voter Registration in South-East Nigeria for 2023 Elections

Ohanaeze Ndigbo Canada's Toronto chapter, led by Anicetu Nwizundu, has raised alarm over the low number of registered voters in the South-East region of Nigeria. They emphasized the importance of Igbos registering to vote in large numbers for the 2023 presidential elections to ensure their interests are well represented at all levels of government.

The organization highlighted the potential consequences of low voter registration, such as reduced influence and benefits for the region. They called on Igbos, especially those in Canada, to support voter registration efforts in Igbo communities.

The appeal also included encouraging traders and shop owners to close their businesses for a day to enable widespread voter registration participation.
