Oil Professionals Demand Investigation into NNPC, NUPRC

Oil and gas professionals have called on the Federal Government of Nigeria to conduct an independent investigation into the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC) and the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) due to increasing transparency concerns. This demand arises amid public debates regarding production performance, licensing procedures, and contract awards in Nigeria's oil sector.

The statement, signed by Ayodele Momoh, highlights ongoing issues of policy underperformance and questionable transactions, particularly following the removal of Mele Kyari as GCEO of NNPC due to allegations of corruption and failure to increase production beyond approximately 1.7 million barrels per day. The professionals have raised concerns about the marginal fields licensing process, alleging that Bayo Ojulari may have facilitated favorable block allocations through insider influence.

They are calling for the removal of both Bayo Ojulari from NNPC and Meyiwa Eyesan from NUPRC, emphasizing the need for transparency and equal access in processes involving national assets.
