Gbayeorike Ruling House Disowns Oyewole's Candidacy

The Gbayeorike ruling house in Okeya IPO, Irepodun Local Government Area, Kwara State, has publicly disowned Alhaji Ganiyu Akinola Oyewole as an aspirant for the Oludopo stool. The ruling house stated that Oyewole has no familial relationship with them, making him ineligible to contest for the throne.

This declaration follows the passing of the late monarch, Oba Sahe Giwa Opadoy Oyelekan III, on August 12, 2025, after a 15-year reign that promoted peace and unity in the community. The ruling house emphasized that the Oludopo stool rotates strictly between the two recognized ruling houses: Gbayeorike and Olunlad.

A letter dated November 17, 2025, signed by prominent community leaders, rejected Oyewole's candidacy, asserting that his claim to the throne is baseless and disregards the traditional qualifications. The community warns that any attempt to impose an ineligible candidate could threaten peace and stability within Okeya IPO.
