Okoronkwo Alleges Theft at Super Falcons' WAFCON Hotel

Esther Okoronkwo, a forward for the Super Falcons, reported that $700 was stolen from her wallet while the team was preparing for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in Casablanca, Morocco. Initially, Okoronkwo claimed that $500 had been taken but later corrected the amount after recounting her money.

She expressed her frustration on Snapchat, stating, “This hotel Marriott in Casablanca just stole about a lot of people’s money from their wallet!” Okoronkwo accused the hotel’s housekeeping staff of the theft, claiming they waited for the players to leave their rooms to clean and steal money. She mentioned that the players confronted hotel staff about the missing funds but were dissatisfied with their responses, describing the staff as disrespectful.

Despite this incident, the Super Falcons continued their preparations and achieved a 2-1 victory over Tanzania in a pre-tournament friendly, with Okoronkwo scoring the winning goal. The team is set to begin their WAFCON campaign against Malawi on Tuesday.
