Edo Governor Okpebholo Vows Justice for Slain Student

Edo State Governor Senator Mondai Okpebholo condemned the murder of University of Benin student Alex Omogi, who was shot dead by gunmen at the university's main gate on Sunday night. In a statement from his Chief Press Secretary, Patrick Ebojel, the governor described the killing as a "sacrilege" and a threat to public safety.

He extended condolences to the family and friends of the deceased, whose life was violently cut short. The Edo State Police Command has initiated an investigation, with security agencies working to identify and apprehend those responsible for the attack.

Governor Okpebholo assured the public that the case will not be swept under the rug and that justice will be served. He reiterated his administration's firm resolve to combat cultism in Edo State, highlighting ongoing efforts to confront the menace, including collaboration with traditional rulers, religious leaders, and civil society organizations.

The governor urged the public to provide information regarding the murder, assuring confidentiality.
