Police Investigate Murder of UNIBEN Student Alexander Omogi

On Sunday night, around 5:00 PM, Alexander Omogi, a student at the University of Benin, was shot dead by unidentified gunmen in a white Mercedes Benz GLK vehicle at the university's main campus gate in Ugbowo, Benin City, Edo State. The Edo State Police Command confirmed the incident in a statement signed by ASP Eno Ikoedem.

Preliminary investigations revealed that three individuals, Onwuk Blessing, Chineny Christian Mbagwu, and Alexander Omogi, were intercepted by the assailants who opened fire on them. The attack resulted in various degrees of gunshot injuries to the occupants and a female passerby, Dorathi Ubah.

Following the report, police operations were swiftly mobilized to the scene, and the victims were rushed to the University of Benin Teaching Hospital for urgent medical attention. Unfortunately, Alexander Omogi was confirmed dead upon arrival.

The Edo State Police Command, led by CP Mondai Agbonika, has ordered a full-scale investigation to track down the perpetrators and has warned against criminal activities within the state, particularly on university campuses.
