Ebonyi Governor Orders Shrine Destruction After Killings

In response to the recent violent clashes in the Okporojo community, Ebonyi State Governor Francis Nwifuru ordered the destruction of shrines in the Amasiri clan. This directive was issued during a state security council meeting held on Thursday night at the Old Government House in Abakaliki.

The governor emphasized the need for the Amasiri community to assist state security agencies in identifying the locations of these shrines. The decision to destroy the shrines is part of measures to address the aftermath of the crisis, which resulted in multiple killings.

Governor Nwifuru also announced that a curfew imposed on the Amasiri community would remain in effect until several victims' bodies are recovered. To prevent future conflicts, a 19-member committee has been constituted, headed by Prof. Paul Nwobashi, which includes various stakeholders from the community and state government.
