Okuama Residents Beg Tinubu Over Detained Community Leaders

Residents of Okuama are pleading with Tinubu for the release of community leaders detained in connection with the killing of 17 military officers on a peace mission in March 2024. The Citizens Right Concern Enhancement Initiative Chairman, Comrade Edewor Egedegbe, highlighted the prolonged incarceration as a violation of the detainees' fundamental rights.

The detained leaders include Arthur Ekpekpo, Chief Belvis Adogbo, and others. The villagers expressed concerns over the health and safety of the detainees, especially after the death of one, James Oghoroko, in custody.

They criticized the military's handling of the investigation and called for a transparent inquiry into the incident. The residents urged President Tinubu, Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, and others to intervene urgently and ensure justice for the slain officers and the wrongly detained leaders.
