Warri Council Chiefs Accuse Soldiers of Killing Vigilante Leader in Delta State

The Warri Council of Chiefs accused soldiers linked to Tantita Security Services of killing vigilante leader Dele Ogunbayo in Pessu community, Delta State, on September 18, 2025. Chief Brown Mene claimed that besides Ogunbayo, four others were also killed by the soldiers.

Eyewitnesses reported hearing multiple gunshots and seeing armed military personnel in the area. The military initially denied involvement but later admitted responsibility.

The incident has sparked outrage and calls for a thorough investigation into the killings in the Itsekiri community. The Council has lodged a petition with the police for a comprehensive probe into the matter.
