Okuyiga Rejects APC Primary Election Results in Ekiti

Teju Okuyiga, an aspirant for the House of Representatives from Ekiti South Federal Constituency II, publicly rejected the outcome of the APC primary election held on May 16, 2026. In a statement released on Sunday, Okuyiga described the electoral process as a "sham" that fell far short of the minimum standards for a free, fair, and credible party primary.

She raised concerns about the electoral process, stating that the state electoral process did not follow party guidelines, with issues such as delegate accreditation, vote collation, and multiple ward figures being disregarded. Okuyiga noted that in several wards, no votes took place, and there were no ballot papers, which she claimed suppressed the voting process and manipulated the outcome, undermining female aspirants.

She called on the national working committee of the APC and relevant authorities to urgently review the situation to uphold democratic wishes and ensure fair representation, particularly for women in politics.
