JAMB Leadership Transition: Oloyede to Aina

On Friday, Prof. Is-haq Oloyede formally transferred leadership of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) to his successor, Prof.

Segun Aina, during a ceremony at the board’s headquarters in Bwari, Abuja. Oloyede highlighted his ten-year tenure, during which JAMB invested over N8 billion in staff welfare initiatives, including retirement savings, a 13th-month salary, and examination duty allowances.

He noted that these welfare programs also benefited candidates and tertiary institutions, reducing the cost of UTME applications by 30% and providing support for special needs candidates. Oloyede also mentioned that more than 10 staff members faced prosecution for misconduct during his leadership.

He defended JAMB's strict disciplinary measures, referencing the infamous incident of a snake allegedly swallowing N36 million. As he stepped down, Aina committed to maintaining the integrity of Nigeria's tertiary admissions process and vowed to tackle examination malpractice and admission fraud.
