Gunshots Disrupt Ondo APC Primaries Amid Tensions

The Ondo State APC primaries were marred by violence as gunshots were reported, causing confusion and forcing delegates and party officials to flee the venue. A group within the party has raised concerns about alleged irregularities and disruptions during the electoral process, calling for the intervention of the APC national leadership.

They have submitted a petition addressing the chairman, Nentaw Yilwatda, urging a review of the primary conduct across nine federal constituencies, including Akure South and Akure North. The group claims that the process was compromised in six constituencies and has accused the national assembly electoral committee, led by Hon.

Iboroma Harri Dabibi, of abandoning the APC secretariat in Akure amid the unrest. The situation has heightened tensions within the party, which is already facing internal disagreements ahead of the 2027 elections.

Governor Lucki Aiyedatiwa has previously denied allegations of marginalizing candidates and emphasized the need for party unity.
