Ondo Assembly Converts Owena Press Ltd to State Corporation

On Thursday, the Ondo State House of Assembly passed a bill to convert Owena Press Ltd into the Ondo State Print and Publish Corporation (OSPPC) during a plenary session led by Speaker Rt. Hon.

Olamid Oladiji. The bill, which had previously passed its second reading on February 26, underwent detailed examination during a public hearing that included various stakeholders from the media industry.

The bill received unanimous support from members of the assembly, as noted by the chairman of the House Committee on Information, Hon. Olatunji Ifabiyi.

The new corporation will have a management board comprising a chairman, a chief editor, and two part-time members appointed by the governor. The board will be responsible for formulating policies and ensuring effective service delivery.

Additionally, employees will be entitled to pension benefits under the state pension law, excluding casual workers. The bill's passage marks the end of Owena Press Ltd as a limited liability company.
